Meta has introduced the “Audience Selection for Each Creative” feature: advertisers can specify the age and gender of the audience for individual images and videos within a single ad set. The announcement appeared on the developer blog on October 19.

This update allows you to link different ad messages to different segments without creating a separate ad set for each. For example, you can prepare several versions for one product with different characters, usage scenarios, and purchase arguments.

At the same time, the selected audience is not a strict limitation. In the interface shown by Meta Ads specialist Jon Loomer, it is stated: the ad may also be shown to other users if the system considers them likely to respond.

What to consider when testing

For traffic teams, this introduces an additional hypothesis: checking how well a specific creative matches its audience within a shared ad set. But simply choosing an age range does not replace adapting the ad itself. If only the setting changes while the character, copy, and offer remain the same, you are testing impression distribution.

There is also a nuance in evaluating results. If you change both the creative and its audience at the same time, the difference in conversion will be the result of the entire combination. You cannot attribute it solely to the new visual or headline. To test the creative itself, keep the comparison conditions as similar as possible and evaluate the result by target actions and their cost.
